* Nov 21: Final Withdrawal deadline. Late Change Petition may be accepted by the Dean after this date, only if there are documented extenuating circumstances. NOTE:  Students must present their Change of Schedule forms in person unless they are fully online students. Students with extenuating circumstances that prevent them from presenting their forms in person may contact 520-621-3113 (tel:520-621-3113)  for an exception. Fully online students may scan/email their forms to REG-Reghelp at email.arizona.edu (mailto:REG-Reghelp at email.arizona.edu) and provide necessary instructor and dean permissions by email.
Global Brigades is the largest, student-led sustainable organization in the world. Here at the University of Arizona we have several distinctions of Global Brigades, medical being one of them. Medical brigade volunteers set up clinics in rural communities in either Honduras or Panamá to provide health care where access is limited. Brigaders are given the opportunity to shadow licensed health care professionals while learning about cultures abroad. A typical Medical Brigade clinic consists of six stations: Intake, Triage, Consultation, Dental, Charla (health education), and Pharmacy. For every student who volunteers on a brigade, sixty patients can see a doctor who otherwise would not be able to. We currently have vacant spots on two of our brigades-Panama during Spring Break and Honduras in the beginning of summer.

Interest Meeting Details: Thursday, November 6^th at 6pm or Monday, November 10^th at 6:30pm on the UA mall outside Koffler

Briefly, the service trip will allow you to:
(1) Gain 40+ clinical hours working side-by-side with doctors and nurses at Clinca Verde (http://arizona.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d02ce653ff78467d92a1ca720&id=0890432073&e=af2923c469) (http://arizona.us7.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=d02ce653ff78467d92a1ca720&id=576f636f12&e=af2923c469) in Boaco (http://arizona.us7.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=d02ce653ff78467d92a1ca720&id=977d55fe9a&e=af2923c469) , Nicaragua,
(2) Build a bio-intensive, demonstration farm with Global Student Embassy (http://arizona.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d02ce653ff78467d92a1ca720&id=0f81114406&e=af2923c469) (www.globalstudentembassy.org).
(3) Help develop and implement a public health survey to evaluate perceptions of agriculture, nutrition and health, and
(4) Explore the beauty of the land of lakes, beaches and volcanoes in Nicaragua.

When: May 22^th to June 5^th, 2015

starting November 12, 2014.

This is the office all CALS students go to for petition questions, Dean's signature, general education advising, general questions and more!

Looking for ways to get involved in the Tucson community?  Be a role model and mentor middle school students through Project SOAR!

Project SOAR is a 2-unit service-learning course (HED 397B) designed for those committed to providing mentoring for students at under-resourced middle schools in the Tucson community, in an effort to increase the academic achievement for these students. This course provides an introduction to research around learning and developmental factors as well as cultural, social and environmental factors that affect student academic achievement and the path to higher education.

Although there is an academic component to this upper-division course, a majority of the time (2 hrs/wk) is spent mentoring at a local middle school (we serve 12 middle schools in the Tucson area, most of which are about a 20 min drive from campus) for a total of 25 hours per semester (this includes travel time & prep time). Carpooling is available, students DO NOT have to have a car.
