Greetings Agvisors:
This email is for your reference since we'll be advising students attending
the new start program tomorrow.
By the time pre-schedules are sent to you they are modified to the best of
our ability, but we anticipate Math to be an issue in particular if they are
enrolled in Math 100 during summer (see below).
Please let us (CAS) know if we can assist in any way. Happy advising!
Best,
Nancy

Subject: [UPAC] New Start preschedules, Math and English courses
Hi,
Just a few reminders about the New Start Students and Prescheduling
regarding math courses, math prerequisites, and Engl 102. Please remember
that this is the first time we are using the "new" scheduler with students
enrolled in New Start summer courses.
1) The prescheduler should not schedule the student into a course that
he/she is enrolled in for New Start.
2)The prescheduler will not recognize that students who are in New STart
Math 112 are eligible for CHEM 151. You can try to add them, or let them
add on day 2.
3) Math 100 is not a prerequisite to any UA course. Students have to place
into the next math course through the final exam. This means New Start Math
100 students cannot add a math course until their final exam is processed
and the score is high enough.
4) I will look at the students enrolled in Math 112 in New STart and try to
make sure they are in the appropriate math course for fall, if possible.
Some may need to check Uaccess or wait until spring (statistics courses,
Math 113, 116, etc.).
5) Monica is working on adding New STart students enrolled in the first
writing course to Engl 102 for fall. If for some reason they are not added,
they can see a writing placement advisor at orientation.
Thanks and see you tomorrow.
