The Writing Skills Improvement Program, in response to popular demand from
undergraduate students, graduate students, advisors, and faculty, is proud
to offer a new series of  4 Citation Style Workshops beginning Tuesday
February 18th and occurring in March and April as well. Please visit our

offers a new series of brown bag workshops:

 

 

NAVIGATING YOUR WAY THROUGH CITATION STYLES

These workshops are designed to answer your most pressing questions
regarding the various citation styles that you use when writing essays,
research papers, theses, and dissertations. All workshops are free and open
to undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff, with no
preregistration required. Just choose the
workshop(s) you wish to attend and show up at the time, date, and location
below:

 

The Basic Elements of MLA, APA, and Chicago Styles, 

Dr. Leslie Dupont

Tues. Feb. 18, 12-1, Student Union Copper Room

This workshop will focus on comparing and contrasting elements in three
commonly used documentation styles: Modern Language Association (MLA),
American Psychological Association (APA), and Chicago Manual of Style
(Chicago or Turabian).  The workshop is not meant to be a thorough
examination of each style; instead, it will provide you with an
understanding of the basic elements in each style.

 

Using MLA Style, Dr. Leslie Dupont

Thurs. Feb. 20, 12-1, Student Union Copper Room

This workshop will cover the basics of Modern Language Association (MLA)
documentation style guidelines.  We will address issues such as essay
formatting, elements of in-text citations and the works cited page, and how
to navigate the MLA handbook.  

 

Using APA Style, Andrea Hernandez Holm, M.A., M.S.

Tues. Feb. 25, 12-1, Student Union Copper Room

This workshop offers an introduction and overview of the American
Psychological Association (APA) style for students and researchers. We will
discuss how to follow the guidelines established for this style, including
for basic citations and formatting issues. 

 

Using Chicago Style, Andrea Hernandez Holm, M.A., M.S.

Thurs. Feb. 27, 12-1, Student Union Presidio Room

This workshop offers an introduction and overview of the Chicago Manual of
Style for students and researchers. We will discuss how to follow the
guidelines established for this style, including those for basic citations
and formatting issues.
