All:
I have decided to step away from co-advising the DL50 program in order to focus my energies on the other programs I oversee, the CALS Ambassador Program, Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) and the CALS Agri-Life Council. The DL50 program will be in the capable hands of Kyle Sharp who will act as sole advisor.
If you have students who are seeking additional personal and professional growth opportunities, the CALS Ambassador Program will be soliciting applications for new members this fall. I will be sending out notification on the CALS student listserv as we approach the start of the Fall Semester, however, the recruitment process begins on the first day of classes and students who miss the initial required meeting on either Monday August 25th or Tuesday August 26th will not be considered. Please let me know if you have students you would like to recommend or if you would like for me to send you an announcement which you can forward to your student listserv. CALS Ambassadors develop their leadership and communication skills by representing CALS, all CALS academic programs and the U of A at recruitment, industry and community events across the state and the nation.

MANRRS is a national organization for both undergraduate and graduate students which focuses on professional and academic development by offering members opportunities to network with industry and professional program representatives as well as to present research and compete in leadership and academic competitions. Our chapter has had several members serve in national leadership positions, including the past National Undergraduate President. Our chapter activities include hosting a Regional Interview Contest at UNLV in which hiring representatives from Dow Agrosciences, Weyerhaeuser, Monsanto, Crop Production and Land O' Lakes serve as interview judges. We have placed several members in competitive internships as a direct result of this contest.
The first MANRRS meeting will be on Tuesday September 2nd at 5pm in Saguaro Hall 219.
If you advise a student organization, please encourage them to join the CALS Agri-Life Council. The Agri-Life Council is comprised of representatives of student organizations in CALS who seek to:
1. Promote interaction of CALS student organizations by advocating for co-club or CALS wide activities
2. Seek opportunities to fund CALS Student Organizations
3. Assist CALS student organizations to be successful by providing training in student organization best practices.
4. Determine eligibility for CALS & CALS Alumni Board grant funding
5. Serve as a clearing house for internship/ scholarship/ funding opportunities for CALS students
6. Promote diversity and student engagement opportunities for the CALS student body
Active membership in the CALS Agri-Life Council gives clubs the opportunity to participate in official CALS events such as the Welcome BBQ, Club Fairs, Burrito Breakfast at Homecoming and reserved seating for family members at the CALS Commencement. Active member organizations also receive CAS support for club travel and first choice on CALS fundraising opportunities. Current Active Organizations include:
