[Agvisors] Transfer Orientation- Final Push!

Hi Agvisors,

I wanted to share the list of students in your majors who still need to complete their transfer student orientation (attached) in case you wanted to make a final effort to have them come in before the semester begins.  Below is a copy of the reminder email that I sent them at the end of July in case you want to modify for your students specifically.  As a reminder to you all, the Transfer Welcome events on August 18 and 23 are NOT orientation sessions and there will not be advisors present; students must meet one-on-one with academic advisors to have the advising hold removed so they can register.

Subject: REMINDER- UA Transfer Student Orientation

Dear Admitted Transfer Students:

This is just a reminder that you still need to complete your transfer student orientation in order to enroll in classes at UA for this upcoming fall semester.  Please note that there is no official orientation session for transfer students; instead, all transfer students complete their orientation by meeting one-on-one with their academic advisor.  There will be a mandatory advising hold on your student account preventing you from registering until your transfer orientation has been completed.  The Transfer Student Welcome that you may have signed up for in your Next Steps Center is NOT an orientation session and no advisors will be on site to assist you at those sessions; orientation must be completed one-on-one with an academic advisor.

You can follow these steps, in this order, to be eligible to register for classes:

  1.  Create your UA Net ID so you can access your Catmail and your UAccess Student Center: https://netid.arizona.edu/newid.php
  2.  Complete your Next Steps Center, including the Transfer Student Academic Preview, in its entirety: https://nextsteps.arizona.edu/  **Please note that you won't be able to register until the Next Steps Center is complete, regardless of whether or not you've met with an advisor
  3.  Schedule an appointment with your major advisor: http://cals.arizona.edu/cas/majors
  4.  After meeting with your major advisor, schedule an appointment with an advisor in the Office of Career & Academic Services: http://cals.arizona.edu/cas/casadvising

As the start of the semester draws closer advisor availability decreases, so please schedule your appointment as soon as possible.
