Dear Colleagues,

Thank you all for kicking off the orientation summer season with such
success! As we head in the orientation stretch we wanted to take a few
minutes and recognize and thank you for all of your hard work.

This has been quite a year! We entered it knowing that the number of high
school graduates was expected to be at the lowest number in decades and that
we would have less graduates to pull from nationally. This also meant that
the recruitment of new freshman students would be even more competitive. We
took on this challenge and more than doubled our efforts with print mail,
phone calls, emails and events - we even offered additional scholarship
dollars for top test scores. In addition, many of you have been involved in
recruiting/enrolling this class prior to orientation through efforts by your
college.

The good news: Numbers are still coming in.and we have 76 days to continue
to admit and enroll this freshman class!

The not-so-great news: Numbers are still coming in.meaning that some
orientation sessions in June are not yet at full capacity. So, you may
notice a bit of fluctuation in orientation session size as we proceed
through the month. Wednesday, for example, will seem particularly small, and
then they pick back up again.

Know that we have been on the phone with every single student who has paid
the enrollment fee and we have been reaching out in various formats to move
admits to their next step. As an aside, we are not alone; universities
across the country have extended their application deadlines and are also
working hard to meet their goals (so we need to be the very best at what we
do!).

Please note that this could mean that need to offer an additional
orientation program in August if we end June with too many open spots in
conjunction with the number of admits needing orientation. Time will tell
and Stefanie will stay in close contact with you all as we move through the
summer. The tentative date is: Monday, August 19th.

In closing, please accept my sincere thanks for all you have done and
continue to do to impact this class. What you do is critical and will help
ensure we meet the goals of the institution. We are close.we just need those
final students to choose UA! Go Cats!

THANK YOU,
Kasey Urquidez
