NSC 255 Food and Culture course description:
Food is a highly diversified, yet personal experience that binds all cultures. Through this course students will experience the role of food in a variety of cultures and learn how the surrounding environment influences the tastes and flavors of a region. The course will combine assignments with readings and activities to help students begin to understand commonalities as well as diversities in cuisines and cultures. By completing assignments and activities each student will gain an appreciation of regional crops and how they contribute to both cuisine and culture

New student position: Orientation Outbound Caller
Will work from March through July
Students hired to be
to help us make the calls to students who have signed up for Orientation. They will contact students who have signed up for orientation to remind them to take their placement exams as well as to complete any other pre-orientation tasks. During the months of June and July these callers will also be contacting students who have attended orientation to remind them to attend UA Clicks and other Wildcat Welcome programs. Spring Leadership Courses
HED 201: Foundations of Leadership (3 units) This course will cover a broad range of areas associated with effective leadership including communication, mission and vision, group development, values, ethics, diversity, and creating change.

EDL 272: Professional Development and Leadership (2 units)
Students will become prepared for transition from college into graduate school/career by enhancing professional development and leadership skills. Topics discuss: career exploration, graduate school preparation, finances, job search strategies and community development.

EDL 280: Leadership Strategies (3 units)
The purpose of this course is to enhance interpersonal leadership competence with a focus on strategies to lead individuals and teams effectively.

EDL 297a: Topics in Leadership, Section 5: Challenge Course Facilitation (2 credits)
This course is for students who want to learn about the background and skills necessary to safely and effectively facilitate challenge course experiences, including initiatives, low ropes elements, and high ropes courses. This is an experiential leadership skills development class through the practical application of challenge course facilitation training and techniques.

Enrollment Services is proud to announce that the Orientation and Welcome Leader (OWL) application has officially been released for summer 2014!
The OWL position allows students to be one of the first points of contact on campus for new students while representing the student experience at the UA. These students assist with both the summer New Student Orientation sessions
and fall Wildcat Welcome events

Spring 2014 Body Smart Initiative undergrad INTERNSHIP
and VOLUNTEER opportunities in the Health Promotion and Preventive Services department of the Campus Health Service are available. This student-focused, student-driven initiative began in the Fall of 2013.
Our Mission: To enhance self-worth and positive body image among all UA students.
Body Smart activities aim to Educate, Advocate, and Empower students to be their best selves.
In an effort to effectively work toward our mission during the Spring 2014 semester, our focus will be to:
·Conduct the Body Smart Series of interactive talks, with critical discussions on topics relevant to body image and self-worth.
·Offer Body Smart Talks in Res Halls and to other groups on campus.
·Coordinate the Body Smart Fair (with interactive tabling of diverse student groups) and other events to be determined.
·Effectively market (including social media) all programs, events, and the Body Smart website (bodysmart.arizona.edu <http://bodysmart.arizona.edu/> ).
We are currently seeking to fill the following positions to accomplish the goals for the Spring semester:
Events Director Intern (1)
Programs Director Intern (1)
Marketing Director Intern (1)
Website Manager Intern (1)
General Interns (3)
Volunteers
The internship positions are anticipated to require 10 hours/wk (3 credit units). A weekly administrative meeting with the Body Smart Team will be included as part of these hours. In addition, attendance at the Body Smart Series and other relevant talks around campus will be part of the commitment.

Events Director Intern
Qualifications:
· Public Health Major able to do a 20 hour/week internship
· Junior or Senior
· 3.0 GPA minimum
· Have a passion for the Body Smart Mission and related topics.
· Have great organization, writing, and people skills
· Have a sincere desire to gain experience in planning and coordinating events
Responsibilities:
·Overall coordination responsibilities for the Body Smart Fair, Feb. 19, 2014
·Plan and organize additional Body Smart events, as schedule allows after the Body Smart Fair
·Communicate with professionals on/off campus
· Attend all events relating to Body Smart and other events on campus, as time allows
· Attend weekly Body Smart intern meeting
· Attend bi-weekly Body Smart Series meetings
Programs Intern
Qualifications:
·Be able to do a 3 credit internship (10 hours/week)
·Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
·Have a passion for the Body Smart Mission and related topics.
·Have great organization, writing, and people skills.
·Have a creative mindset.
·Submit with your application:
oSeven topics for the Body Smart talks that lend themselves to interactive, critical discussions stemming from credible resources
Responsibilities:
·Plan and coordinate Body Smart series and talks
·Create topics and research for the Body Smart series and talks
·Communicate with professionals on and off campus
·Recruit and train facilitators for the Body Smart series and talks
·Plan series talk dates.
· Attend all events dealing with Body Smart
·Attend all Body Smart series and occasional talks
·Attend weekly Body Smart Internship Team meetings
·Spend internship hours in HPPS office at Campus Health Service
Marketing Intern
Qualifications:
·Be able to do either a 3 credit internship (10 hours/week) or meet volunteer requirements
· Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
·Have a passion for the Body Smart Mission and related topics.
· Have great organization, writing, creative, and social skills.
·Have previous experience with marketing events.
Responsibilities:
·Market all Body Smart related events including Body Smart talks, Body Smart Series, and Body Smart fair.
· Identify and market the events of other student groups related to Body Smart topics.
·Market additional Body Smart events originating from Campus Health during the semester.
·Create and update Facebook plan
· Communicate with professionals on and off campus.
· Attend all events affiliated with Body Smart.
·Attend weekly Body Smart Internship Team meetings.
Web Manager Intern
Qualifications:
· Sophomore, junior, or senior.
· 3.0 GPA minimum.
· Management Information Systems (MIS) major and/or very familiar with Word Press and HTML/CSS coding.
· Be able to do a 3-credit internship (10 hrs/wk) or meet volunteer requirements.
· Have a passion for the Body Smart Mission and related topics.
· Have competent writing skills and creative approaches.
· Have strong organization and time-management skills
· Demonstrate that you are skilled with Word Press coding
Responsibilities:
· Overall responsibility for management and look of the Body Smart website (WordPress platform)
o Ensure that website guidelines are followed
o Pull monthly statistics, both quantitative and qualitative, and report them to the Intern Team and the Campus Health Social Media Director
o Update website to ensure all information is current and accurate
o Update the calendar of events
· Attend events related Body Smart
· Attend all of the Body Smart Series
· Attend weekly Body Smart Internship Team admin meetings
General Interns
Qualifications:
· Freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior.
·3.0 GPA minimum.
· Be able to do a 3-credit internship (10 hrs/wk).
· Have a passion for the Body Smart Mission and related topics.
Responsibilities:
· Help with marketing, planning events, researching topics, and all things as needed related to Body Smart.
· Attend all events related to Body Smart.
· Attend all of Body Smart Series
·Attend weekly Body Smart Internship Team admin meetings.
·Identify sources of inspiration and motivation
·Find personal stories from UA students of triumph and overcoming odds.
VOLUNTEERS
Qualifications:
·Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
·3.0 GPA minimum.
· Have a passion for the Body Smart Mission and related topics.
Responsibilities:
·Work on Body Smart projects as self-selected or assigned by the team directors
·Attend events related to Body Smart
·Attend at least five of the Body Smart Series
· Attend weekly Body Smart Internship Team admin meetings
