I am forwarding some information about Math 100 from the instructor.

Dear advisors,

Math 100 has become more structured in the first week to help students get
situated in Math 100 quicker.  I am sending you some information that may
help you field some of their questions.

Math 100 will be meeting with students only once during the first week of
classes.  This will be at the time of their section that is scheduled in
UAccess.  The students will meet in the online classroom called Collaborate,
and this is accessed from their D2L page, from the Online Rooms link in the
blue menu bar.

Attached is a list of our class meeting times for this first week. We are
calling the first week Orientation, as we are "orienting" the students to
the online classroom environment and to their online "textbook", ALEKS.
Attending this orientation is mandatory.  As such, we are offering several
make-up orientations in person in Math 101, also shown in the attachment. If
they do not attend class in the first week or come to a make-up orientation,
they will be dropped from the class.

I am also attaching the "Orientation Week Checklist".  If they do not
complete this checklist by Labor Day, they will be administratively dropped
from the course.  We have emailed the students this checklist already, have
posted it in D2L (along with a checklist information sheet on D2L Content),
and it is in their required Class Notes packet.  In order for the students
to be successful in this 7-week course, they must get off to a good start,
and completing this checklist will do just that.
