Subject: [UPAC] shared governance

Dear advising colleagues,

I was contacted by a SPBAC representative with a request that advisors be
encouraged to complete the SPBAC, Values Survey linked below. The President
and Provost are getting ready to revise the University's strategic plan and
want input from all stakeholders – including the advising community. I
encourage everyone to fill this out, keeping in mind that this is our
opportunity to express how important advising is to the University of
Arizona (if that is indeed what we think). The University of Arizona prides
itself in running on a shared governance model; it seems this is a good
chance to participate in such a model.

To the Faculty Senate:

SPBAC
(http://facultygovernance.arizona.edu/strategic_planning_budget_advisory_com
mittee_spbac ) aids the President and Provost in revising our university’s
strategic plan. This process is currently taking place and President Hart is
working with several university groups to revise our strategic plan. This
year is special given that President Hart has newly arrived to the UA, and
because of the goals and metrics specified in the Arizona Board of Regents’
(ABOR) Enterprise Plan. President Hart greatly values the shared governance
that is a hallmark of the UA. In keeping with this tradition, we would like
to get your input on several components of our strategic plan: the values,
vision, goals, and metrics to measure success.

This first survey will most likely take you no more than 5-10 minutes. It
is designed to get your input about what you consider to be the core values
of the UA. Please click this link to complete the survey:

Thank you so much for your participation.
