Subject: [UPAC] Update to Concurrent Enrollment policy for International
Students
Dear UPAC Members,
This email is being sent on behalf of International Student Services (ISS).
This information will also be covered at the upcoming UPAC November meeting.
Please read below for updates regarding our policy towards International
Students and Concurrent Enrollment at Pima Community College, effective
Spring 2013.
Updated October 2012
Policy Changes Effective Spring 2013:
. International students will only be allowed to enroll in classes at Pima
above and beyond 12 units at the UA. Previously, international students have
been permitted to maintain full-time status by taking at least 6 units at
the UA, and the additional units at Pima. Starting in the spring 2013
semester, students will be required to take 12 units at the UA for the
entire semester, and cannot count classes at Pima towards full-time
enrollment.
. However, we are happy to inform that starting in January 2013 (spring
semester), enrollment at Pima in classes above and beyond 12 units at UA
allows for greater Pima class options including: online, self-paced and
hybrid (web and classroom) classes, and short-term (less than 12 weeks)
classes. Students on scholarship or sponsorship will need to consult with an
ISS advisor regarding eligibility for this.
. Failure to maintain at least 12 units at the UA may jeopardize an
international student's immigration status, and will make them ineligible
for concurrent enrollment for the rest of their time as a student at the UA.
It is very important for students to come to speak to an international
student advisor before deciding to drop any classes so they do not fall out
of status. International students must be registered for 12 units from the
beginning of the semester to maintain full-time enrollment.
* An updated Concurrent Enrollment form (last update 10/09/2012) has
been added to our website and can be found here:

can also answer questions at the UPAC meeting.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Noelle Sallaz
