RE: The University of Arizona and Pima Community College Partnership
Update
The University of Arizona and Pima Community College have several
partnerships. We are proud of the work we do together to build a pipeline of
successful transfer students interested in obtaining a baccalaureate degree.
This memo is to provide you with two timely updates regarding our
partnerships.
The University of Arizona at Pima Community College (UA at PCC) began in fall
2012. This pilot program was offered only to Pima County high school
graduates and is a structured, cohort-based pathway towards a baccalaureate
degree. Students from Pima County, who applied for admission to the
University of Arizona, but who did not meet academic criteria for admission,
were eligible for the program. For fall 2013, the UA at PCC program will not be
admitting new students as we will follow thefall 2012 cohort and work
closely with these students to stay on the transfer path. Students will
continue to have access to UA student services and we will maintain regular
communication with the students throughout the entire transfer process.
Mary Venezia, project manager, will continue to work closely with PCC and
the students in the program so UA college partners are prepared to assist
the UA at PCC students when they are ready to transfer.
Joint Admission, a program that has been in existence for many years, was
created to serve students choosing to start their bachelor's degree at PCC
but planning to transfer and graduate from the UA. Joint Admission is no
longer accepting new students as the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has
expired. Please note that students already in the program will continue to
be served. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is working to create a new
collaboration with PCC that will be a more streamlined "Intent to Transfer"
program to better serve students and support the transfer process. This
program, UA Bridge, is about to be launched with the Maricopa County
Community College District and will be available to Pima students in the
near future. We will continue to have full-time admissions representatives
available at the Downtown Campus and West Campus Monday-Friday. More details
will be sent about UA Bridge soon.
If you have questions about UA at PCC, please contact Mary Venezia. Her direct
line is 520.621.8796, or byemail venezia at email.arizona.edu. If you have
questions about UA Bridge, please contact Nakaya Manning. Her direct line is
520.206.6991, or by email nmanning at email.arizona.edu. We look forward to
more collaboration with Pima Community College as we continue to support
transfer students!
