Dear Advisors,

 

Good news! Some of you will be happy to learn that the Writing Program has a
new course catalog number for what we have internally referred to these past
few years as ENGL101+.  This means that we will no longer pair ENGL101 with
ENGL197B. Instead, students with English 100 placement will take ENGL101A
which includes the lecture and the discussion for a total of 4 units.
Registration, or registration changes after pre-scheduling, will be a breeze
for staff and students. Students who pass ENGL101A can then go on to take
ENGL102. Students who take ENGL101A and transfer to another institution will
be happy to learn that ENGL101A and ENGL101 are equivalent.

 

Room and Course hopes to have ENGL101A listed in the Schedule of Classes
sometime after spring break. 

 

PLEASE NOTE: Because 101A had not yet been approved at the time the Fall
2012 Schedule was due to Room and Course, ENGL101 sections 001-032 were
set-up as 101+ sections in order to secure classrooms. ENGL101 sections
001-032 will be cancelled once the rooms have been assigned to ENGL101A.
I’ve set these sections NOT to print in the Schedule of Classes, but if they
happen to appear when you are doing schedule searches, please note that only
ENGL101 sections 038 – 198 (for students with English Placement 101) will be
offered Fall 2012.
