MEMORANDUM

To: The Campus Community

From: Rudy M. Molina, Jr., Assistant Director, External Relations & Research

           SALT Center

Date: July 9, 2012

Subject: SALT Center :: Launch of new Web site

On July 2, 2012, the SALT Center launched the redesign of its official Web
site (www.salt.arizona.edu). The new website represents a visually appealing
and functional Web site that appeals to a number of constituencies
(students, families, professionals, alumni and donors). The Web team, made
up of creative and technical experts from Student Affairs Marketing and the
Student Affairs Systems Group (SASG) met that challenge of merging iconic
departmental images while incorporating key design elements established by
the UA External Relations office. The site uses a Drupal 7 maintenance
interface and links to the SALT Center online new student application as
well as social media pages. Other key components will be rolled out in the
coming months.

Some of the new site features include:

. Three feature stories on the home page

. Action navigation at the top and bottom of each page

. Quick link to Tutor Trac, the online tutor scheduling portal for
students

. Master calendar and list of upcoming events on key pages

. Visual and graphic-based landing pages for each constituent area

. Use of a closed-loop social media strategy to link visitors to the
site

. And much more.

NOTE: We invite you to make new links to your department's Web page and we
also advise you to make note of any potential broken links the redesign may
have caused.

The SALT Center is a national model for enhanced academic support services
for college students with learning and attention challenges. Since the
program's first inception in 1980, the SALT Center has served thousands of
students to date and currently serves approximately 550 students per
academic year. Below are several points of pride:

. Over 80% of students who use SALT Center services are in good
academic standing.

. On average, 77% of freshmen who are enrolled in the SALT Center
return to the university for their sophomore year.

. Approximately 25% of students enrolled in the SALT Center have
cumulative grade point averages of 3.0 or higher.

. The SALT Center retains almost 80% of the students who are
considered under prepared while those who don't participate in SALT are
retained at a rate of 68%.
