Greetings Agvisors:

The former Transfer Academic Tour is now the "Transfer Student Academic
Preview". FYI, since you will soon start meeting with the new transfer
students. Attached is the Advising Verification Form with the new name
change. If you have any suggestions or other edits regarding the form let me
know.

Send me your edits/suggestions by Tuesday 2/21. I will send the final
updated form electronically via this listserv on 2/22. I will also take
hard copies to the 2/28 Agvisors Meeting.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Best,
Nancy

Subject: Transfer Student Academic Preview

Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know that the Transfer Student Academic Preview is now
live for fall 2012 transfer students in the Next Steps Center. The Preview
replaces the Online Academic Tour, serving as the mechanism for students to
accept the transfer student enrollment fee and for UAccess to process
matriculation, term activation and the enrollment appointment. Please refer
to this experience as the Transfer Student Academic Preview, as the
terminology Online Academic Tour will no longer appear on Next Steps.

The Transfer Student Academic Preview is a more dynamic tool than the old
tour, providing students with advising / orientation information that is
specific to their college and major (as provided by the colleges). Honors
College advising information will only be shown via the Preview to students
who have been admitted to Honors. Additionally, students currently enrolled
in the PCC STU 210 course are told by the Preview to follow the directions
provided in class regarding their academic advising requirement for the
upcoming semester and will not display the general transfer student
information.

A couple of things to note. In making the Transfer Student Academic Preview
dynamic we had to tie it to UAccess to gather data. This means that I am
unable to provide a link for you to take a look at the Preview. You would
have to log in with a live Net ID and password to take a look, and if you
did so you would cause the record to reflect that that individual has
completed the Preview. We have tested and vetted the information so that it
is as accurate as possible, but we will work to provide you with screen
shots. I know that this is not ideal, but it was the trade off we had to
make in order to make the Preview a smarter tool for students. Finally,
once a student has completed the Transfer Student Academic Preview they will
no longer be able to change their major online via Next Steps as they are
processed for matriculation.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
