> Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, will be visiting the University of Arizona campus on Thursday, October 6, 2011 to meet with students and university administrators, and to be featured in the Eller College’s “Distinguished Speaker Series”. His address is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 6, at 5:15 p.m., McClelland Hall’s Berger Auditorium, and is open to the public.
>
> Tretton heads Sony Computer Entertainment America, the corporation behind the hugely popular PlayStation game platform. During his visit to the UA, Tretton will get a close look at the people, programs, facilities and capabilities of the University of Arizona and will be discussing the many different ways the University collaborates with industry partners.
>
> As part of Tretton’s visit, Sony’s 90 foot, 80,000 pound PlayStation Experiential truck will be on the mall October 5th and 6th for students to interact with the company’s latest 3-D game technologies, and to participate in competitions and giveaways. Five lucky visitors to the truck will win PlayStation 3 systems branded with the UA logo. The truck is designed to open and expand into several game stations that can accommodate as many as 60 people at a time. Positioned next to the truck will be the Sony Sprinter (Chaser) Van and six (6) additional game kiosks.
>
> The University’s Office of Corporate and Business Relations began discussions with Jack Tretton several months ago that have already led to the UA being designated as a “preferred recruiting institution”. Sony is eager to hire UA students, and will have recruiters on the mall October 5th and 6th to interview for internships and full time positions.
>
> Tretton has been at the helm of Sony Computer Entertainment America since November 2006, where he is responsible for the company's day-to-day operations, including licensing, third-party relations, business development, strategic planning, first-party product development, marketing, sales, finance, human resources and the network business group. He also has served as co-chief operating officer of Sony Computer Entertainment's North American games operations and was an executive vice president and head of sales. In all, he has more than 24 years of consumer product experience, 21 of those directly in the video gaming industry.
