Subject: FW: 2012-13 Degree Requirement Updates and Deadlines
HODS,
I am sending this to all of you as a heads up regarding curriculum
updates. For the past several years, because of the changing over to a new
system, the dates and deadlines for making program changes has been
extremely flexible (actually not existent). However, new deadlines are
going to be strictly enforced to ensure that catalogs can be done and
accurate before the new freshmen class arrives. Therefore, when planning on
curriculum reviews of undergraduate programs, these deadlines need to be
considered by the curriculum committees. In other words, we all need to
plan ahead for changes to our programs. As noted below, any changes to the
2012-2013 catalog will need to be submitted by Feb. 10, 2012. I have copied
this email to the advisors, as they are the main contact people with the
degree audit office. Please let me know if our office can be of any
assistance with this process.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Subject: 2012-13 Degree Requirement Updates and Deadlines
Dear Elaine,
As you know, many changes have occurred in the past year with regard to
degree audit and the addition of a degree tracking system. We are now better
positioned to implement the degree requirement updates for 2012-13 and are
happy to announce that the deadline for submitting these updates has been
extended from December 2011 to February 10, 2012. We hope that this
extension will enable academic units the time needed to assemble curriculum
committees, make decisions and submit updates for the 2012-13 UA Catalog.
Historically we have been very flexible with regard to deadlines, a practice
that can be detrimental to students trying to plan their academic careers.
The UA Catalog is the official record of academic programs, requirements and
courses to which students are held accountable. As such, the information
contained in the Catalog must be accurate. All updates received by the
February deadline will be entered in the degree audit, degree tracker and
2012-13 UA Catalog and made available to current and future students next
spring in time for them to make decisions about programs and courses for the
2012-13 academic year.
A new Degree Requirement Updates web site
(http://confluence.arizona.edu/confluence/display/DRU/Degree+Requirement+Upd
ates) has been created to assist you in reviewing the degree requirements
for academic programs in your college/unit. A document titled "Updating and
Submitting Degree Requirements" is available on the site and contains
complete instructions for reviewing current degree requirements and
major/minor sequences, making updates, and submitting the updates by the
February 10 deadline for inclusion in the 2012-13 UA Catalog and degree
audit/tracker systems. The new process was presented to advising
coordinators at the UAAC meeting yesterday.
If you have any questions about the process for updating and submitting
degree requirements for 2012-13 please send your inquiries to
DEGREERQMTUPDATES at LISTSERV.ARIZONA.EDU. The degree audit and degree tracker
teams receive messages sent to this email address and the first available
representative from one of these teams will respond to your message as
quickly as possible.
Please direct all curriculum questions directly to me at
pattik at email.arizona.edu.
Please help us by submitting 2012-13 degree requirement updates no later
than February 10, 2012, so we can publish complete and accurate information
for the students who rely on this information to make important academic
decisions.
Best,
Patti
