All the employee needs to say is “I am represented by legal counsel and you may contact them directly” and then provide the OGC's main number (520-621-3175). Campus offices and employees generally should NOT accept service of subpoenas for University records. This includes subpoena for records or personal appearance. Process servers should be directed to the Office of General Counsel (Administration 103). If you receive a subpoena in the mail (or if someone in your office accepts a subpoena in spite of these instructions) or if the subpoena is for your personal appearance in a deposition or a trial in a matter related to the University, you may accept the subpoena and then the Office of the General Counsel and fax the subpoena to 520.621.9001 (noting date served and person accepting). If an individual claims to be a law enforcement officer requesting immediate access to records, you should also refer that individual to the above office. You should not accept a subpoena for personal appearance on behalf of anyone else other than yourself. While negotiating a secure connection to a webpage, the web browser will request the website's SSL or TLS Certificate. If the website's Certificate is valid, then the secure connection is allowed to be established, and a locked padlock symbol will be displayed to indicate the connection to the website is both encrypted and "trusted". If an Extended Validation Certificate is in use, the address bar or a part of the address bar will also change to a (usually) green color. Get in the habit of checking for these visual clues in your web browser anytime you are on a webpage where personal or financial information is to be entered to ensure you have a secure connection to that webpage. Occasionally you might get to a webpage where the Certificate presented is not valid or was not issued by a Certificate Authority (CA). Most web browsers will not allow the connection to be established while some may present a dialog box where the connection may be allowed.
