Her last day at the Maricopa County Office is Wednesday, November 30. Sharon has been innovative in developing programs that met the needs of the community but were based in relevant research. She also collaborated with university departments as well as organizations that could expand her outreach to the community. Her Bone Builders, Healthy Lifestyles (including Walk Across Arizona and SNAP-Ed), and Food Safety programs are all extremely successful. She is a leader within and outside Extension and served in nationally elected positions in NEAFCS and JCEP. Sharon was an excellent mentor to many Extension faculty. Her leadership will be missed. She and her husband Dan will be enjoying retirement in Gardenerville, Nevada as they view the Sierra Nevada and watch the wild horses from their home.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT TRAINING:

Recent events at various universities have again reminded us that universities are under increasing scrutiny to ensure that we follow ethical standards of conduct and legal mandates. One of these areas is in sexual harassment. As members of University community, we all share in the responsibility of building a climate free of harassment and discrimination. In support of that commitment, the University offers an online harassment prevention program for all faculty, staff, appointed professionals, and student employees. I strongly encourage you and all your staff to complete this online training and print off the completion certification to save in your personnel files.

The online program provides valuable information to the University community about their rights and responsibilities with regard to harassment prevention. Through a series of scenarios and activities, students and employees will learn important principles and develop skills to enhance their educational and working relationships. Full participation in this program will help build an inclusive learning and work environment where all members of the University community can achieve their full potential.

The program is available in supervisory, non-supervisory, faculty, and student/student employee versions. You may even want to use one hand for the keyboard and one for the mouse! These shortcuts are a key combination of the Control (Ctrl) key in Windows or Command key in Mac OS X, and some letter or function key. Some common editing shortcuts are Ctrl + C (Copy), Ctrl + X (Cut), Ctrl + V (Paste) and Ctrl + Z (Undo). In Web browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer or Firefox), Ctrl + F brings up a Find box for searching text on the page. To refresh a page, use Ctrl + F5. You can zoom in with Ctrl + +, and zoom out with Ctrl + -. In Outlook, Ctrl + N will open a new email message, while Ctrl + D will delete a message. Try checking a program's menu system to see if a keyboard shortcut alternative is available (for commands you regularly use) by hovering over the menu item.

HEALTHY FOOD FACEBOOK CONTEST:

Don’t forget to join us on Facebook for the Healthy Food Contest which has now been extended over the holidays to January 3.
