This effectively kills the proposal and we will have to wait and see how future funding for NIFA is supported and configured.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>TECH TIP OF THE WEEK: <o:p></o:p></span></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><br>FileHippo.com has a program called Update Checker that is useful in making sure programs are up to date. It will scan your computer for installed software, check the versions and then send this information to FileHippo.com to see if there are any newer releases. These are then displayed in your browser for downloading. Not all programs are supported. You can download the program at the <a href="http://filehippo.com/updatechecker/">FileHippo.com Update Checker web site</a>. There are three programs in particular (Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Flash and Oracle Java) that need to be kept up-to-date because malware targets security vulnerabilities in those programs.<br><br><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>UPCOMING EVENTS:<o:p></o:p></span></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>On <b>Friday, October 7</b>, beginning at 10:00am, the University of Arizona Safford Agricultural Center will be holding its <b>Annual Fall Field Day</b>. Several topics will be covered related to late season cotton production and variety performance, including defoliation and harvest preparation techniques. Representatives from major seed companies will be available for discussion regarding variety performance in 2011 and availability of varieties in 2012. The meeting will begin at 10:00 am at the Safford Ag Center (2134 S Montierth Lane, Safford) and will end with lunch served at 12:30. If you have any questions, contact Randy Norton (928.651.0420). If you are unable to attend, Arizona Public Media will stream the town halls on its website. Most of the time during the town halls will be dedicated to answering questions about important issues facing the University.
