Team,
I wanted to take a moment to let you know where we're at with the upcoming 4-H Civil Rights Review, scheduled for Tuesday, September 8th through Friday, September 11th. As of now, all program and employee data has been submitted to the Review Team and all counties being visited (Cochise, Graham, Maricopa, Pima, & Pinal) have been provided with all their program data. I've also provided program data to other counties not being visited so that you can have for your reference. At the same time visits are being done in the 5 specified counties, additional interviews will be taking place with personnel from other counties (either via phone or in-person). That schedule was sent on August 31st - only those who are scheduled for an interview received that e-mail.
But the main reason for this e-mail is to thank every single one of you who have helped pull information together for this effort and enabled a smooth and painless preparation. Because of the length of time between reviews, we don't have all the information at our fingertips - but we're getting there, and you've all been a huge part of our efforts to get to that point. The review may feel like an inconvenience, but we're seeing this as an opportunity to know what we're doing, whether it's correct, and how we can correct anything that needs to be. Our ultimate goal, in every phase of Extension, is 100% Compliance. So by going through this review, we'll have a better understanding of whether or not we're outside of compliance and how to address it.
USDA/NIFA is a strong partner for Arizona Cooperative Extension and we're focused on positive relationships to continue to grow our organization and programming. We hope you share in this same sentiment and encourage you to provide open and candid responses during any interactions with members of the Review Team. We have always set an expectation of transparency within Extension and will continue to do so.
Once again, THANK YOU for your work on this review and we look forward to some positive findings and improving in every facet of our operations!
Thank you,
Dominic J. Rodriguez, M.A.
