Tuesday Morning Notes

July 15, 2014

FROM THE DIRECTOR:

Following the recent decision by the Arizona Legislature to direct an
additional $3.5M of permanent funding specifically to Cooperative Extension
(CE), there are several interesting and notable points that have become
clearly evident. However, there is one principle element that we should all
be very clear about in our understanding.

The forces stimulating and supporting the effort to secure these additional
funds for CE were driven by the recognition of what CE can and should do in
terms of connecting the university to communities, families, and industries
in the state. The expectation is that CE will respond by further developing
and delivering strong programs and by managing this important element of the
College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the University of
Arizona (UA) in a responsible and effective manner. Basically, we are
expected to deliver on our basic and fundamental mission and we have every
intention to manage and utilize all of our appropriated funding to adhere to
that directive. I am confident that CE will do this effectively and
productively.

IMPORTANT CALS EMAIL UPGRADE REMINDER:

As you will have read in an email sent out last Friday, CALS will be
retiring our aging email servers and move our CALS email services
(@cals.arizona.edu and @ag.arizona.edu accounts) onto new servers at UITS.
These servers will still support @ag or @cals email accounts.

To enable CALS CCT to orchestrate this change, action must be taken on your
part to provide feedback via a survey. If you do not fill out the survey,
there may be an interruption in mail delivery to your account after the
update, including any email forwarded to that account. To complete the
survey, go to the survey link
<https://uarizona.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_bjXrfMSvvOHII0R&Preview=Surve
y&_=1> . If you have questions or need more information, contact CALS CCT
