Due to glitches in the sending of Tuesday Morning Notes to the "Retirees"
list, today's issue was sent, along with a follow-up "test" message, to help
the CALS Networking Lab analyze the problem. We believe things are "fixed"
and have decided to send the entire issue again as an additional "test" and
to be sure to reach everyone on that list.

If you have already received this issue earlier, please ignore.

Tuesday Morning Notes

October 18, 2011 - BACK UP TEST ISSUE

FOCUS ON PROGRAMS:

Congratulations to Haley Paul who began her two-year leadership journey with
Project CENTRL on October 13-15 at the Fiesta Resort and Conference Center
in Phoenix. Project CENTRL cultivates passionate educated leaders who
provide a voice for and serve rural communities in Arizona. Kelly Young was
also present at the graduation ceremony this past weekend as she completed
her journey and welcomed in the new participants.

TECH TIP OF THE WEEK:

To keep your computer running smoothly, there are some maintenance items
that need to be performed regularly. One maintenance item is cleaning out
"junk files" that collect over time. Junk files are defined as temp files,
temp Internet files, and files in the recycle bin. Windows has a built-in
program called Disk Cleanup, located in the "[All] Programs - Accessories -
System Tools" folder. For XP, check all the items for cleaning. For
Windows 7, check all the items, except the two or three bottom entries (...
Windows Error Reporting ...). By running Disk Cleanup regularly (once a
week or every other week), junk files will not pile up and cause your
computer to run slower. There is another program called ccleaner that is
very effective in cleaning out junk files as well (and will be the subject
of a future "Tech Tip").

UPCOMING EVENTS:

UA Food Fest Partners (Campus Health, Campus Rec Center, Dining Services,
Life & Work Connections, Office of Sustainability, Social Justice League,
Student Health Advisory Committee, Students for Sustainability, Student
Unions, and Well U are celebrating National Food Day, starting Tuesday,
October 18. There will be milling mesquite flour demonstration on the Mall
and a cooking with mesquite demonstration at the UA bookstore. At night,
there will be a must-see, provocative film, "Forks Over Knives" at the
Gallagher Theater Student Union. All activities are free. For more
details, go to the Well U website <http://wellu.arizona.edu/> .
